FOAM STORAGE TANK
DESCRIPTION
The atmospheric foam storage tank is made of stainless steel. The tank has an expansion dome with a volume of at least 2% of the tank’s overall capacity. All tanks must be kept full to the halfway point of the expansion dome. At the bottom of the concentration tank, there is a sediment sump. The tank has an inlet, an outlet, a drain connection, and a fill connection. Two saddles/legs welded to the tank and holes for anchoring support the horizontal tanks. Lifting lugs on the tank are meant to raise empty tanks. The tank features flat ends, however dished ends can be added if desired.
When employing AFFF or AR-AFFF type foam concentrates in the foam storage tank, a thin coating (about 6mm) of a quality mineral/sealer oil should be applied to the surface of the foam concentrate after filling the foam storage tank with the right quantity. This eliminates the difficulty caused by foam concentration evaporation. The foam concentration should be examined on a regular basis in accordance with any of the following standards: NFPA11, EN 13565-2, or other equivalent standards. Special instruments should be used during the annual sample process for tanks containing mineral oil to ensure that no oil is taken with the foam. All connected plumbing to the tank must be stainless steel, especially when using EUROSAFE AFFF/AR-AFFF foam concentrates.
